2010-03-02: A ride to the Governor's Office followed by a splash at Pool at the end of the day

Day 5,
2nd March, 2010

Greg and myself decided to suit-up for a day more and were back in our Business suit to Office. After reaching Office we found that there was a load shedding and we have to wait till the electricity comes back. It was pretty hot and were sweating badly. We started discussing informally about the projects running at Bureau with the lady working for the ICT Dept. One thing led to another and after an interesting and informative discussion we landed up at Governor's Office for a presentation.

The conference room was pretty decent with a microphone attached to every seat. Something happened and the microphone glowed up as if I was the key presenter :). I got a bit nervous and tried my best to switch off the mic, however I could not manage to shut the device off. I was only relived after someone at the Office managed to switch it off.

The presentation was chaired by Dy. Governor and it was interesting to see the respect everyone had for His Excellency Dy. Governor. Everyone rose to their feet. It seems in Nigeria everything starts at least an hour later than scheduled. We had to wait for another hour after the presentation was over and by the time we were driven back to hotel it was already around 2. Although, it was an interesting day at the Governor's Office and it was a good learning at the presentation about the Investment Bureau, we could not do anything significantly. We have started to realize that things indeed move a bit slow at Nigeria. We also had an insightful discussion with Mr. Edward working at Bureau. Edward has worked earlier long enough for different corporates and joined the Bureau to bring a change.. He is enthused with so much energy, has lots of interesting ideas and want to do a lot to bring the investors to Cross River State.

Came back to Hotel as usual at around 4. Greg suggested we hit the pool. As swimming is something which I definitely want to learn, I immediately bought the idea. Later Jamie, Kei and Justin also joined us at the pool. All of them were so eager to share a tip or two with me for swimming. I really appreciate their help.

Most of the teammates decided to go to a restaurant in the town for dinner. As, it was getting late, I decided to skip the plan and had my dinner at Hotel itself with Greg, Eva and Kevin. Although, its only 10.30 I feel pretty tired and sleepy. Good night.
